Dunbar's Tryphe Specialty Foods derives its name from the ancient Greek word tryphe, which means delicacy, tenderness and elegance, all of which this foodie treasure trove embodies. Opened by Jacqueline Cheung in 2012, Tryphe stocks meats, seafood and salts, pastas, sauces, oils, vinegars and jams.
It also offers space for customers to sit and enjoy pour-over coffee from 49th Parallel and Clipper's organic teas as well as yummy baked goodies such as the popular apple cake and lavender vanilla shortbread. The gourmet eat-in-or-take-home meals include soups, stews, pies, casseroles, and quiches and are favourites with their customers.
