One thing you might not expect to see in a traditional barbershop is an accordion. But at MacKenzie Heights Barber Shop, co-owner and founder Christos (Chris) Kaskamanidis enjoys regaling his customers with accordion music in between haircuts. His partner, Abbas, notes that Chris likes to play chess as well, so there is usually also a chess game in progress in the shop. "Chris and his accordion have been featured in local news stories and also he was on television for a while," says Abbas.
Located in the city's affluent West Side, the MacKenzie Heights Barber Shop prides itself on offering traditional men's haircuts and ancillary services, such as beard and moustache trims and shaving. "We're a traditional barbershop, but we can also do all the modern styles," explains Abbas. "We're up to date on some of the more modern trends."
The shop has a varied clientele, but it consists mostly of professional men such as doctors, lawyers, accountants and politicians. "We're located in a wonderful community," Abbas notes. "We have very nice clients who have been coming here for a long time." So long, in fact, that the shop has pictures of children receiving their first barbershop haircuts, and some of those children are now bringing their own sons to experience Chris and Abbas' work firsthand.

I have been back and will be back- prefer this nearby place over the places on Dunbar even though they are closer.
Both Chris and Abbas are fantastic barbers. Excellent atmosphere with a cozy friendly service. Would never go anywhere else.
Fair price; great haircut! If you’re nostalgic for a neighborhood barbershop, then this is your place. At the corner of 33rd Avenue and MacKenzie, this shop is among a few other quaint shops at the intersection, and Chris makes you feel right at home.
Having just moved in to the Crofton Manor Retirement Residence recently on west 41st Ave. and my second haircut today, I like the way Chris cuts my hair and brushes away all clippings off my sweater. He remembered me from my first visit and gave me the perfect cut just the way I like it. It’s so nice to have found a close by friendly professional who does a perfect job in a friendly environment.
