In 2004, Kim MacMillan bought a house in the community of Crestwood. She renovated the basement into a separate suite and turned the main and upper floors into Inspirit Beauty and Wellness, where she and the Inspirit team offer everything from manicures to Thai massage.
Kim got started in aesthetics after completing high school and working in a large spa for 14 years. When she decided to go out on her own, she brought nearly 300 clients with her. Since then, Kim and her team have developed a loyal customer base without advertising or even putting a sign in the window.
From the sidewalk, the business is indistinguishable from the residential homes all around it. And once you enter, you’ll feel right at home. The interior is cozy and well-decorated and the structure of the house creates an environment of privacy. “You walk in and you feel like you’re the only client,” says Kim. “Even when we have a lot of clients, it doesn’t ever feel busy. We like that.”
