“The name came from when I hosted sex toy parties,” Brenda Kerber says. “Clients would call their adult toy box a tickle trunk. That helped to disengage from the sensationalist language and imagery of the everyday sex toy shop.”
Brenda Kerber has been hosting toy parties since 2003, and opening the The Traveling Tickle Trunk in 2008 has allowed her to do so much more than host parties. “I didn’t want to just open another sex toy shop,” says Brenda. “I wanted to make a place where people could be comfortable with their sexual needs and wants.”
“I wanted to be a resource, not just a retailer,” Brenda says. “Not only are most sex toy companies full of sensational imagery and language, but they are also not as focused on the products as we are. Everything we sell has been pre-screened. We make sure that our products are safe for use: nothing toxic or harmful to the body, it won’t fall apart, and people won’t waste their money.”
